Last Entry Before the Unexpected Hiatus

There's lots of excitement on the horizon! Our trip to NC and performance at The Fiddle & Bow were fabulous. The Fiddle & Bow Concert series is held at a performance hall named Blessings and they have white Christmas lights attached to a black ceiling. We felt like we were performing under the stars! It was great fun.

But, now we are on to new adventures. Dave and I will make our yearly trek to Winfield, KS where he shares emcee duties on Stage 1 with Mike Flynn, host of The Folk Sampler and good friend to us! I will be spending a few days off from Mommy-hood just relaxing.

Then, it will be time to gear up for IBMA week. Although we are not attending the conference this year, we will be showcasing on Sunday at Bell Buckle Record's Dare to Be Different event and Monday night at the NIBGA Showcase Suite (Room 213/214 in the Convention Center).

Ah, Autumn -- always so full of excitement!!!

Home Page Entry from Lawn Party

Well, the Lawn Party was a huge success. It was wonderful to see my dad's stage, The Hillbilly R'Streem back in action. Ricky also performed with some of the other musicians. He is pictured here with some of the members of the band "The Creek".

We are looking forward to returning to North Carolina next weekend for the Fiddle & Bow Concert Series in Winston-Salem. This will be our second show there. Thanks for these kind words from their website "Emily’s warm, laid back stage presence make for a very engaging show. Another “Don’t Miss” show."

Last weekend at the Tamarack here in WV was a wonderful time! Ricky and his daughter came up and spent the weekend with us before the show -- and actually made it up our driveway despite huge ruts from rain washing and gravel that was too large and basically impassable (which means impossible to pass!). We had some time to practice and "jam" -- even The Biscuit got in on the action by "playing" his "banjo". We are looking forward to performing for our friends and family in a couple of weeks in middle TN on the infamous Hillbilly R-Streem at the Parker Family Lawn Party.

Wow, it's hard to believe that summer is almost here. Dave and I have taken our first Family Trip with our one-year old son. He's walking now . . . oh, my! And, I am getting ready to spend some quality time in Nashville this summer so The Biscuit will know all his family and many, MANY friends there. In the meantime, we have a few dates on the calendar for the summer. AND -- I have contracted with a booking agent to work on the 2009 schedule. We look forward to being out there performing more next year! Hope all is well with all of you!

Howdy, Friends and Neighbors,

I didn't just steal my better half's opening line from his radio show, DID I? Ooops . . . anyway, I have a few new additions to the website you should check out. I have added a date to the calendar. We are performing at a worthy cause the evening before Easter at a fundraiser to help raise money for Darla and Roger Huffman. Her medical bills have piled up after a devastating car accident last year, and she has been recovering for many months. So, come on out and help us help them.

Also, I have added a couple of recent reviews. It's exciting to still be getting some press on the newest project. We are very thankful for all of the support of the radio and print media world for all of the positive feedback.

And, finally, thanks to some help from our pal Tim Carter, I have photos from the recording sessions posted. Check it all out . . .

WELCOME to my new website and to the year 2008! Last year proved to be quite eventful for us as we adjusted to life with our new baby. He is growing at an alarming rate and learning how this world works -- and we are learning how he works. In the meantime, we have played a few dates and have a few lined up for this year. Hope to see you out there sometime soon . . .

Big Time

Dave, the Baby Joshua and I have been having a big time since my last entry. Included in our shenanigans was our yearly trek to the Walnut Valley Festival where Dave emceed on stage one, and all our friends went nuts over our sweet, little one. We have also spent quite a bit of time in Nashville, visiting family, attending IBMA and performing at Normandy Music Night. What a wonderful venue! This was my fourth performance there, and I enjoy it more and more every time.

Being West Virginians now, this past weekend we were honored to be asked to perform at the Sunday @ Two concerts at The Tamarack. After the show we joined in briefly at the jam session in Studio 5, where a local artisan builds dulcimers and bowed psaltries. We couldn't stay long because we had to pick up our boy from the babysitter, but really enjoyed the old-timey, mountainy sounds of the local musicians. We did take a few minutes to stop at the New River Gorge -- another must visit spot if you are ever in the southern part of West Virginia (along with The Tamarack).

Busy with Baby Joshua

WOW! It's been a long time since I last added anything to this website. BEEN REALLY BUSY. We finished our new cd and I have sent that out to radio stations across the country and overseas. We are getting some great airplay and feedback. We've performed here in our temporary home-state of WV and been on a few live radio shows.

And, oh yeah, we had a baby! Our sweet little baby boy decided to join us two months before we were expecting his arrival, so our lives were really thrown into a tailspin for a bit. But, now that he is settling into life on this planet, we are getting back on track. I am working on booking shows for the fall and next year, and will be adding dates soon.

Winfield NewSongs Showcase

Dave and I are off to Winfield again for another Walnut Valley Festival this week. For him, it's long hours emceeing stage one - for me, its FUN! But, this year, we get a special bonus! Two spots on stage during the NewSongs Showcase. I entered three of my songs off the upcoming cd, and two of them won. "A Little Jaded" was picked for the feelin' blue category, and "Spirit on the Prowl" was selected in the none of the above category (my favorite category, by the way). Then, a couple of weeks after that we are headed to NC with all of our friends from the Summervilla "We Got Work to Do" album for two special concerts and a private party. Check it out on our schedule page.

Shows in Virginia

Due to a miscommunication on dates, we will not be able to have our duo performance at the Three Li'L Pigs BBQ restaurant in Daleville, VA during this trip to Virginia. Hopefully in the future -- I can keep my dates straight AND we can sample some great "que" next time we are through the area. We are looking forward to the Friends of the Public Library concert in Bedford on Saturday. Also, we'll be adding a big performing weekend with the Summervilla crew in North Carolina in September. I'll be posting the details soon. Dave and I were honored to be among friends and participate in the compilation gospel cd, We Got Work to Do. If you haven't heard of the Summervilla recording projects -- check them out at www.summervilla.com.
